So I'm in Spain right now, and although I pay for just about everything with credit card, I do like to have a few euros on hand for the odd place that only accepts cash. I've been to two bank ATMs so far (Santander and Caixa) and both charge extortionate rates for withdrawals (€7!) and that isn't counting the charges my bank will impose. Does anyone know any banks that charge more reasonable rates for withdrawals?
Google search provided this:
What's the Best ATM to Use in Spain?
ATM fees in Spain will range from around 50 cents to around €6 per withdrawal.
Deutsche Bank is the only major bank we found that charges no ATM fees in Spain. With regional banks, Bankinter will charge €0.50 while Banco Popular, Banco Pastor, Targobank and Caja Rural will charge €0.80.

Thanks for the info. I'm on my way to Madrid next, so hopefully I'll find a Deutsche Bank branch! If not, I'll look for some of the other cheaper ones you mentioned.
Spanish banks charge ATM fees. Deutsche Bank is not a Spanish bank, hence no ATM fees. If you find an ATM from another foreign bank institution should be the same, no fee (unless it is an Italian bank).
Just went to a Unicaja ATM this morn and oddly enough, they didn't seem to charge. But don't quote me on that!
