Asla ticket type question

Hi,

I'm a little confused on the ticket options, and wondering if someone can clarify. For Granada to Seville:

  • Reduced (Can Change, but not cancel) - 14 Euro
  • Flexible (Changes & cancellations permitted) - 19 Euro

Both offer an "Add flexibility to your ticket" option, which is described as:

Change or cancel your ticket for free up to 2 hours before departure.

  • If the new ticket is more expensive, you will have to pay the difference between the two tickets.
  • This additional service will not be reimbursed.
  • Only one change and/or cancellation will be permitted per ticket.

This option cost 2.50 Euro when on a reduced fare, and 1 Euro when on a Flexible fare.

I'm confused how all this adds up. Reduced can change and not cancel already, so this option adds cancellation for 2.50??? So I would pay 16.50 Euro total if I want to change and cancel????

Which is already less than the 19 Euro for the Flexible ticket option. And why does the flexible option have a 1 Euro add on to be flexible, when it's already flexible?

I'm confused! I AM looking for flexibility, which is why I'm asking.

Typically, the word "reduced" refers to classes of travelers who qualify for a reduce-price ticket - people over a certain age, people under 26 or college aged, possibly the disabled, possibly others. You probably don't qualify. Why would you need the possibility of canceling or changing your ticket, unless you have to reschedule your whole trip? Do not buy a "reduced" ticket. I would just pick the €19 ticket. But you should pick the highest priced option including the fee to be able to change or cancel up to 2 hours in advance.

I took the bus too, in march 2022, the same route but opposite direction, Seville to Granada.

Yes, there's a risk that I may have to reschedule my whole trip.... I'm still hoping I can go, and also afraid things "sell out" or increase in price a lot, so want to book things. But keep an option open so that I may have to pay a little extra if something comes up, but I'm not losing everything (e.g., flight, hotel, transit, etc.)

And about 'reduced,' I don't think that's the case w/ Asla: https://www.alsa.com/en/web/bus/rates-and-offers

Alexander.kuo,

I agree with Nick; ALSA charges a fee for change/cancellation of tickets depending on when one requests said change/cancellation.

Here’s an excerpt from ALSA’s change and cancellation policy:

In the case of cancelation the company shall refund the passenger the full amount of the ticket if requested at least 48 hours before the departure. If the cancelation is requested between 24 and 48 hours, the company shall refund the amount of the ticket minus 20%. In the event that the cancellation is requested less than 24 hours before 30% shall be deducted from the amount of the ticket.

Since you need the most flexibility, I’d suggest paying this extra fee and/or booking the flexible ticket(s) and cancelling more than 48 hours before bus departure

Keep in mind that there’s a booking fee (€2.90 if ticket is over €10) which is not refundable

You may want to consider signing up for the ALSA plus program:

Alsa Plus customers do not pay booking fees after their first purchase. If you are an Alsa Plus customer, remember to log in as such before commencing the purchase process.

Wishing you a wonderful trip!

P.S. My mom and I took ALSA buses from Córdoba to Granada, and Granada to Sevilla some years back.
The ALSA buses were comfortable & had A/C. The luggage is stored in the hold under the bus and you can take a personal bag in the bus. Granada’s bus station is on the outskirts of the city and can be reached by city bus or taxi. We opted for the convenience of a taxi to/from station to hotel. Enjoy!
