Arriving Barcelona with transfer to Minorca - passport control? Immigration? Where?

Hello, the previous posting on this topic assumed that the traveler had already passed immigration/customs previously in Barcelona, before going onward to Mallorca on a separate trip.

I believe my question is a bit different: arriving into Barcelona airport then getting on a flight to Minorca only 3 hours later.

I would prefer to leave the airport and then return in a couple of hours to board the flight to Minorca, because I don't want to be delayed upon arriving in Minorca, as well, I'd like to seek out some food and cash machine.

What are my options?

Do I pass through customs/immigration first then turn around and re-enter the airport having already been "qualified" to stay in Spain, or do they have a special "holding" area as some airports do for people going onward to elsewhere within the country?

What is the best way to avoid immigration/customs in Minorca as my schedule there is tight.

Traveling in October so hope there would be less delays, etc.

Thank you.

The first port (airport) of entry into Schengen zone is where you go through passport control and customs; for you it will be Barcelona airport. If you choose to leave the airport airside (post security checks) after that; you will have to go through airport security (only) later for your flight to Minorca. If you stay on the airside; then you just wait at the gate (or grab something to eat) for your connecting flight so no security check .... just like in the US. Either way you don't have to go through passport control and customs again at Minorca airport.
