We are taking the tour in September from Barcelona to Madrid (Best of Barcelona and Madrid in 8 days) and will stay an extra 5 nights before we fly out of Madrid.
We are thinking of spending at least 1 night in Sevilla. Is there anywhere else that you'd recommend staying overnight or day trip to?
Toledo is fantastic. It was Spain’s capital for centuries and is only 35 minutes from Madrid.
And Segovia which is 30 minutes from Madrid.
If you could stay 2-3 nights in Seville, you could also visit Cordoba on the way back to Madrid as it’s on the same high-speed train line between Seville and Madrid.
You could easily spend the extra time in Sevilla alone. Other popular destinations (not already mentioned) include, Salamanca, and Cuenca. Also near Madrid is Alcalá de Henares. Chinchón and Ávila are nice by not worth a day trip by themselves since each can be seen in a couple hours. Further out, but doable as a day trip by train, is Burgos.
The tour includes Toledo.
I think the Seville/Cordoba idea is a good use of time.
If you are. headed to Sevilla, stop in Cordoba to see the Mezquita. One night or two nights should do it.
There is a lot to see in Seville. I'd opt for at least 3 nights there, or 4 if I wanted to take a side trip to Cordoba rather than spending one or more mights there.
Yes, I would say 4 nights in Seville with your 5th night back in Madrid before your flight.
Thank you everyone. That was helpful.
Toledo and Seville are my favorite cities in Spain. You need more than 1 night in Seville.
