Army Museum Toledo

I just read that there was a fire in the museum in June, and that the entrance was free because they had to close some exhibitions. Has anyone gone recently? How long did it take to visit? Thanks

Was recently in Toledo, but not to the museum. Its website doesn’t mention anything about no admission fee due to a fire. Had it been free I would have gone since I last visited it in 1999.

It does mention free entrance to Temporary exhibitions, Room: The armies before the Army, Grounds, Archaeological remains, Cafeteria-Restaurant, Gift shop and Library, but not the permanent exhibits.

That's sad that you didn't go... on the link you sent, on top its says:

EL EDIFICIO HISTÓRICO (ALCÁZAR) ESTÁ CERRADO POR OBRAS. LA ENTRADA AL MUSEO DEL EJÉRCITO ES GRATUITA, TEMPORALMENTE.

Wow, how I missed that I have no idea. I did see it in 1999 and really enjoyed it, especially an exhibit on how those in the Alcázar lived when it was under siege during the Spanish Civil War.

From what I can see, you didn't miss much.... a lot of it is under renovation..... you can enter the gardens and a couple of the rooms, that's why the entrance is free!!!

I went to the Army museum and to the attached cafeteria and public library (accessed by a tower elevator) in April 2023. Strange coincidence that part of the museum was closed due to a recent fire. I believe that the price was reduced due to the limited display areas. The historic fortress foundation ruins were available to see as well as part of their museum collection.
