Are audio guides back in business at Alhambra?

Alhambra stopped offering audio guides last year due to a scandal with the vendor contract.
They were supposed to resume offering the service with the new vendor sometimes about now.

Has anybody visited recently and can confirm whether the audio guides are available again?

If not - what would be good alternatives?

Thanks!
M

When we were there on March 29th, they were still not offered. They did offer us a website that we could go to for info. However we didn't do that.

We were there on April 29 and I don't remember audio guides being offered, but the RS 2016 book provided us with a good self tour of the major attractions. Also, when we saw English tour groups we would try to eavesdrop to get some additional insight ;) - which is tough nowadays because the guides speak softly into microphones and the group wears headsets!

Thank you Jeanine and Angella.

Anybody knows whether audio guides on Alhambra are available for rent from some local tour companies ?

I don't but I found this in the Apple iTunes Store for $2.99: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/alhambra-generalife-granada/id687383627?mt=8

I think if you dig around there will be more like this, either downloadable as an app or a audio file.

Another thing the RS2016 book suggested is buying one of the guides the local gift shops sell and reading it the night before your visit. They're pretty beefy with information. There are a lot of them but RS makes some suggestions to help you narrow things down.

Good luck and have fun!
