Apple AirPods Pro translate feature

I set up my AirPods for the translate function. I am traveling to Spain in a week and only have high school Spanish knowledge from 40+ years ago. The way the feature works is you hear the English translation in your ear when someone speaks to you in Spanish. You also have the ability to respond in English and the Spanish words appear on your phone to show the other person. I’m wondering if anyone has used this and if it was effective/practical, and if you have any tips on using it. Thanks.

I have not used it and I hope you give us a full report when you get back about how it worked for you.

Under optimal conditions — one-on-one conversations in quiet settings — the system performed well and felt natural and almost effortless. Listening was easier than speaking, which required the other party to read or listen to my translated responses.
The technology didn’t perform quite as admirably at bustling train stations or in lively izakayas, for instance, or during exchanges with rapid-fire speakers.
