Marc, you might want to try idealista. Don't know if 2-3 months would work, but they are a good site for longer term rentals, with really cheap prices too.

Marc, you may already know thus, but if you are traveling on a US passport without a long-stay visa, you cannot spend 3 months in Spsin (or in any combination of countries within the Schengen Zone). The limit is 90 days within any 180-day period, and that includes both the arrival day and the departure day. Leaving for 1 to 89 days and returning does not make things right.

These are some of the portals used by locals when renting apartments here in Barcelona. Note however, many rentals are not aimed for "short periods" (2-3 month is a short period!):

They cover the whole of Catalonia and the whole of Spain albeit some are "specialised" in Catalonia so you're bound to find more offers in this area... majoritively the metropolitan area of Barcelona -which comprises 36 cities and towns- and where half of the population of Catalonia live :)

we just rented a 3 day rental with Spain Select, and they also do longer term rentals. you could try them.
