Any cost advantage buying train tickets 24 hours in advance at station?

as opposed to a couple of weeks buying on line?

A day or two before would give us more flexibility in schedule, but will it still save $$ compared to day of purchase?
And would we save more if we locked in and booked a certain number of days/weeks on line?
Thanks

YOu only save by buying well in advance. The only advantage of dropping by the day before is that you have your ticket in hand and don't have to worry about missing a train because of lines at the ticket office. I once missed a train to Vernon from Paris this way -- it took me over an hour to get the ticket, so we ended up going the next day.

You can save by buying on line well in advance.
