I am planning a trip to Spain for 9 nights, flying in (and out) of Barcelona. We'll be taking trains, not driving. This is what I am thinking of:
Day 1, arrive Barcelona, stay 3 nights; Day 4, train to Madrid, stay 3 nights; Day 7, train to Valencia, stay 1 night; Day 8, train up the coast to Barcelona, stay 2 nights
I don't want to try to see too many places in such a short trip, but here are the variations I am considering:
- stay 2 nights in Valencia, and only 1 final night in Barcelona
- don't stay any nights in Valencia, and instead still take the train from Madrid to Valencia and then Valencia to Barcelona. (stop in Valencia for lunch and a quick stop, but not anything in length).
We both like train travel and think the ride up the coast from Valencia to Barcelona should be nice.
Any thoughts on this? Are we making any big mistakes and missing anything we should try to see? Thanks in advance,
Tony
