I've been waiting to book the Sevilla to Madrid AVE on Sunday, June 23 and it hasn't been open. (using Loco 2). Neglected to check yesterday but today fares are available. BUT strangely, to me, it shows only buses except for one AVE at night. When I check the day before, Saturday June 22, there are no fares available. And the next day, Monday, June 24, there are no fares available yet. From your experience, do they open some routes in a limited manner before they open the rest of the trains? This is making me nervous!! Thanks for any insight!
Another oddity, I just tried to find this route and date on Rail Europe, and the AVE trains are showing. I have read many horrible things about Rail Europe on this forum. So this makes the situation even stranger?!?
Don't panic!
Read this carefully and let it sink in: https://www.seat61.com/Europe-when-do-train-bookings-open.htm
As stated above don’t panic. I went on the Renfe website, the first date that I could pull up to make a reservation from Seville to Madrid is June 2, 2019. Renfe has not released the bookings yet. This is this normal for them; 60 days is not always 60 days. When you do book, make sure the use the main stations in Seville and Madrid. Just hang in there.
Thanks you guys!! I thought since I missed looking for one day that I blew it! I appreciate you calming me down:)
Hi,
Can't recommend 'seat 61' enough. Sign up for loco2's service where by they will send you an email as soon as the tickets for your day are available. It worked perfectly for me and saved me checking everyday. Because in Spain, sometimes 60 days is in reality 32 days.
Also, not to scare you...some times when rail lines are be worked on, the trains are canceled but a bus or busses are provided to get rail customers to their destination.

June schedules have just been posted. I just booked my travel on the Barcelona to Madrid AVE this morning through Loco2.
Thanks for the heads up. So far it must just be Barcelona to Madrid as Sevilla to Madrid is not up yet. Will keep watching:)
Hello, today I can book this train. Thanks so all the help (and moral support)! I even got the seat I wanted facing forward:)
