Hello, we are planning a trip to Andalusia in May and have booked nights as below. We are looking for suggestions on 2-3hr day hikes or walks in each location. We will have a rental car in Malaga. Thanks for any suggestions!!
Malaga - 7 nights
Granada - 3 nights
Cordoba - 5 nights
Madrid - 4 nights

When you say 2-3 hours hikes/walks, do you mean in national parks, the countryside, forests, or do you mean in the actual cities? In Malaga I can recommend walking to the top of the Alcazaba! And then to the Castillo. The hike up to the Alcazaba is beautiful! The Alcazaba is a Moorish fortress on a hilltop. Along the way, there are ruins of towers, pathways, gateways, Roman columns, arches, and patios with fountains and beautiful gardens with lush greenery and exotic flowers. And there are spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the port.

I notice that you do not have Sevilla on your itinerary. Is this deliberate or an oversight? Sevilla is beautiful and has a lot of important historical and cultural sights. I would definitely recommend adding Sevilla to your itinerary. I don't know what your sightseeing plans are or what your travel style is, but you don't really need 7 nights in Malaga or 5 nights in Cordoba. Don't get me wrong; I loved both places, but I would take some nights away from Malaga and Cordoba and spend 4 nights in Sevilla.

Thanks for your suggested walk in Malaga…sounds great! Yes, we are more interested in the national parks and nature walks. We plan day trips from Malaga in a rental car (eg Caminito del Rey). We are staying in Cordoba because of the patio festival and plan a day trip to Seville. Not really big city folk! We fly out of Madrid and hence a few nights with a day trip to Segovia or Toledo (suggestions?).

Segovia and Toledo are both worthwhile day trips. If I had to choose one, it would be Toledo, but you wouldn't go wrong with Segovia, either. The aqueduct is a big "wow".

Wow, why on earth 7 nights in Malaga?? The best hike in Andalusia is Caminito del Rey, it should not be missed. J

Yes that is one of our planned day trips from Malaga via rental car. We have three other day trips planned to other hiking areas and staying just outside Malaga on the coast towards Marbella.
