We are a family of four with two 14 year old kids. We'll be visiting Andalusia in March on Spring Break. We only have seven full days due to kids' school schedule. We've been to Spain before and visited Sevilla and Cordoba. I am trying to put together an itinerary (using trains, day tours). Currently thinking of visiting Malaga, Cadiz, Ronda and Granada. We like historical towns. architecture, food and lively places. I know we have a short time there but the kids' attention span is also short. Do you all have suggestions on the itinerary, i.e. add any other places?
Do you like/have you taken a trip with that fast a pace? With a week, I would choose two stops max. Any of those places work, but your flight details may determine what works best.
With only seven days I’d visit places easily accessible to each other. If you’re set on Andalucía, then flying into Malaga makes sense. However, four places in seven days is a lot, especially since each Malaga and Granada deserve at least two to three nights each to adequately see them.
Pick two places and make sure Granada is one of them and on a weekend. That is when all the locals are out dancing and the buskers are playing. I think any 14 year old would love those things, as dose great grandma! J
We joined a day trip to Donana National Park with a stop in Rocio. Because it was in December, lots of "Northern" birds were wintering there. Huge, huge flocks of flamingoes (over a 1000 birds) , white storks and glossy ibises. Plus we saw partridges! Perhaps March will be also a good time for migration back to their northern lands with stops at this park.
I agree with picking two places for such a short trip. And I would choose Malaga and Granada as several others have suggested. Granada has the Alhambra which is amazing. You could easily spend a whole day there. And try to book the night time tour, too. Malaga is wonderful, too. Lots to see and do plus you have the coastal ambiance.
As others have suggested, two places for a week is fine, especially with the attractions available in Malaga and Granada.
There is a lot to see in Malaga.
In addition to the obvious Alhambra in Granada, the kids might like this:

You could also do a day trip to Ronda from Malaga - bus or train.
