Andalusia for 4 weeks with a baby- Granada or Sevilla?

We'd like to spend 4 weeks in one place in Andalusia in Oct. We’re thinking of Granada or Sevilla and having a hard time deciding (or somewhere different!).

We're 2 parents (with intermediate and beginner levels of Spanish fluency) + baby who will be 9 months old. We’d like to spend time in parks/gardens, walking through interesting streets (historical sites, architecture), soaking in life in plazas, music, and modest outdoor dining. We’re hoping for easy access to parks for playing with our baby (who will want time on the ground). Ideally, we’d prefer to avoid splitting the 4 weeks into shorter chunks because of cost, to minimize transitions, and to get a flavour of the local community if we can. We may spend a few days in whichever place we don’t plant ourselves in for the 4 weeks to see the main sites of both cities.

Thanks for your advice!

IMO, Sevilla is your place. Its a gorgeous city with lots of pretty parks. It's larger than Granada so that you will find plenty to do. Cordoba is within day trip distance. I adore Cordoba and usually I recommend people spend at least 2 nights, but in your situation, I can see how a day trip would make more sense. If you do think you could make it to Granada, you'll want to get Alhambra tickets as soon as possible. For Sevilla, I'd get the Alcazar tickets in advance, you don't want to be standing in line with an active babe. An easier way to get Sevilla cathedral tickets is to get to Church of the Savior at about 9am. Buy the combined ticket and then you won't have to wait in a line to get a cathedral ticket.

I agree Sevilla. It is flatter than Granada, Reina Sofia Park is wonderful, and strolls along the river would be fun for a family.

I've spent time in both cities with kids. No question that I would choose Sevilla. Parks, it is flat and there is more to see, plus more options for day trips. Granada is beautiful, but kind of a one trick pony, in my opinion (and very hilly).

Unless you live and work there, I can’t imagine spending 4 weeks in either. If that’s your preference then I’d choose Sevilla since there are more places you can take day trips to.

Four weeks in Sevilla is way too long. While it is nice after about a week, there's not much to do.

Could you do Cordoba, Sevilla and Granada?

I'm a bit of a dark horse but I liked Granada far better than Sevilla for the scenery and free tapas as well as the more college town feeling. Lots of young people study in Granada and to me it seemed more like a small town.

That said I would advise you to stay in at least two cities.

Spending a month in one place with a baby will be easier as you will soon get the lay of the land, learn where to shop, etc.

I would choose Seville. It's larger than Granada so there is more to do and to see. There are lots of lovely parks for relaxing with your baby. And as much as I like Granada, I think Seville is prettier with its architecture and parks and fountains.
