We are staying in Ronda for 2 nights, then driving from Ronda to Seville and want to take in some of the white hill towns along the way. Any suggestions for an efficient and scenic route, whithout backtracking or going too far out of the way? We anticipate this would take most of our day.
Are you driving from Granada maybe ??
Day
1. Arrive Ronda by lunchtime. Afternoon for old town, bull ring, parador views.
2. Excursion to Grazalema and Zahara.
3. Drive directly to Arcos de la Frontera, then on to Sevilla in the late afternoon.
I will add my tiny amount of experience and opinion here that I think part of the answer also depends on how early you are willing to leave the day of travel, and what time you want to arrive in Seville. At home I'm an early up-and-at-'em person, but in Spain, we ate dinner late, stayed up late, and slept in way later than I thought. So, we did not leave Ronda until noon, and only made it through Arcos de la Frontera (1 hr 30 min drive) and stayed a couple hours before driving to Sevilla (1 hr 15 min drive, with tolls) for a 6:00pm arrival at our apartment. If you can get up and out of Ronda earlier, then you can definitely see more towns. The best thing is, no matter which town(s) you decide to see, you will love it! Enjoy!
I've driven several roads around Ronda and they are all scenic. It depends on which towns you want to visit. I'd try to stop in Arcos for 3-4 hours.
Djp_syd hit my favorite towns and I second Chani's statement that all the small roads in the area are scenic. There are many white villages one can visit, but few require a long time to visit. You get the best views of some of them from a distance. My favorite is Arcos but probably because I used to live near it. As a day trip starting from Ronda head to Sahara. When finished, take the CA-9104, a winding road, to Grazalema. From there, take the A-372 to Arcos before heading on to Sevilla.
