Andalucia for 6 Days

Hi Everyone,

I am traveling to Seville from the Algarve with a friend. We plan on being in Seville for a couple days before he flies out. I fly out of Malaga 4 days after he leaves so I have 6 days total in the Andalucia region, four of which I will be alone. I am torn on how to spend my days.

Initially, I was thinking about spending 2 nights in Seville, 2 nights in Granada, 1 night in Ronda, and 1 night in Gibraltar. However, I am somewhat concerned that I will be spending too much time on the road and not enough time enjoying the destinations as well as missing out entirely on Cordoba. Reading the forum, I see that Seville is a must (not sure if 2 days is enough) as well as the Alhambra. I would appreciate any insights you all might have. I would prefer to use public transit between locations. I will be in Andalucia from May 18 - May 24. Thanks!

You have the definitive proposal above.
Chani will suggest an overnight stay in Córdoba, but it would be at the expense of a night in Seville or Ronda, so a tough call. With limited time I think a day excursion to see the Mezquita is the sensible option.

Now, David, I don't always recommend an overnight in Cordoba. I encourage it, but I generally discourage one-nighters, especially on this short visit.

I would recommend that while in Sevilla, you make a day trip to Cordoba to see the Mezquita. In fact, you could go to Cordoba on the way to Granada if you skip Ronda. There's luggage storage at the bus station across the street from the train station. I think you'll want 2 nights in Granada to have time to see the Alhamba properly and a bit more. Be sure that you can get a ticket before committing to the trip - tickets do sell out all year round.

Where you spend your last night depends on when you have to be at the airport. If you are flying home from there, you'll need more time (3 hours?) than if you are flying to a European city. Check the bus schedules (www.alsa.es) from Granada to Malaga. There are a few buses that go to the airport, or take the bus to the city and then train to the airport.

Yes, skip Gibraltar.
