Andalucia Aug 2021

Hi. I know it’s going to be hot but August is when we can take a trip so we will have to deal. What do y’all think of this itinerary? Do we have to rent a car? I’d rather not have the added stress. Any COVID tips? We have been vaccinated. Any hidden gem hotel/restaurant tips appreciated. Thanks!

In Malaga stay at one of the hotels right along or adjacent to the main Larios avenue between the Constitution square and the water -- they will have the street pedestrianized and awnings to hold off the sun.

For tapas, note that there are two places named Papa y Pepe about a block apart but one is much better than the other -- you want the one with the high tables and stools, attracts a younger crowd. Great food and drink.

Picasso was born in Malaga -- plan your sightseeing accordingly!

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Anacapri. The staff are very friendly and gave very good advice on how to get around. The location cannot be beat as it is very near the center of town and very close to the cathedral.

If you have time and are into being pampered, the baths at Hamman al Andalus, located a short walk from Anacapri, was very relaxing.

In Ronda we stayed at the Hotel Soho San Gabriel for 3 nights in 2019 ... we liked it. The breakfast room was rather small for the number of guests so you had to reserve a sitting, but the food was good ... you could use the buffet and/or order things to be made. The rooms were are unique with lots of tile. And an excellend location for walking the old town of Ronda.

We spent 3 days, 4 nights in Granada and could easily have spent more. We stayed in the old Albaycín area, but if you're going to be there for just a day I'd either stay in the eares where your hotel is or up the hill near the Alhambra (the Parador is in the Alhambra precinct) We are lunch there one day ... mixed review on the lunch.

There's quite a hill between the main part of Granada and the Alhambra ... we are inveterate walkers so hiked it, but there's buses and taxis too.
