Andalucia

My husband and I will fly into Seville and have 6 nights in Andalucia before going to Madrid and spending 2 nights there. We would greatly appreciate where should base (maybe one or two places...?) ourselves in Andalucia in order to make the most of our time there. Also, any suggestions on the best places to see? We have been to Cordoba and Grenada, so will skip them this time.
Many thanks!

Have you been to Seville itself? If not, it is an obvious choice. You could do all 6 nights there and do a few day trips, or do 4 nights there and 2 somewhere else. Ronda is my first thought, since you have been to the most common options of Cordoba and Granada. Or if you prefer a beach that is completely doable - Seville then head down to the coast. I have heard good things about Cadiz but not spent time there.

One hour of Sevilla is located Jerez de la Frontera, a zone with one of the most interesting wine in the world, I recommend a visit to Gonzalez Byass and some of the great wineries on the city.

Andalucia is crowed of interesting things...

Thank you! We are now thinking two nights in Seville, one night in Cadiz, one night in Ronda and two nights based in Marbella before taking the train to Madrid. Does this sound about right?

Believe Valente is referring to sherry (referred to as Jerez when ordering). Gonzalez Byass makes Tio Pepe. Other major brands include Dry Sack and Osborne. Very popular throughout the country. Your new itinerary seems fine.

We were trying to find a central place where we could base the last two nights and also would be easy to get a train back to Madrid. Do you have a better suggestion? Thanks.

I would not ever want to stay in 4 hotels over the course of 6 nights (5 hotels in 6 nights if you include Madrid), but perhaps you are accustomed to that sort of pace. I'd especially be concerned about this on a summer trip, but perhaps you are planning to travel in the spring or fall.

Marbella doesn't have rail service, but you can get a bus from there to Malaga, and the train from Malaga to Madrid is a fast one. I've never been to Marbella or Cadiz so can't comment on their attractions.

Malaga with its speedy train to Madrid would be my preference over Marbella. This might work better for you ...

Day
1. Arrive Sevilla (4 nights)
2. Day trip by train to Jerez
3. Sevilla - Cathedral & Real Alcazar
4. Day trip by train to Cadiz
5/am Pick up hire car & drive to Arcos de la Frontera
5/pm Drive on to Ronda (1 night)
6/am Explore Ronda
6/pm Drive to Malaga (1 night)
7/am Return car & explore Malaga old town
7/pm Late train** to Madrid (2 nights)
8. Madrid
9. Depart Madrid

**AVE 2173
Dep 17:00 MALAGA MARIA ZAMBRANO (Spain)
Arr 19:45 MADRID-PUERTA DE ATOCHA (Spain)

This looks very good. Would it be worth it to spend 2 nights in Seville, then rent a car and drive to the Cadiz/Jerez de la Frontera area, spending two nights there before going on with your plan or is it better to day trip to that area? Ang is there much to see in Malaga? Thanks so much!

Still not sure whether to take the train to Cadiz/Jerez de la Frontera or rent a car from Seville...We have no problem renting cars when we travel...Any thoughts?

Parking is difficult in the old town of Cadiz and would think it’s not easy in Jerez either.
