ALSA Buses

I'm looking considering buying tickets with ALSA buses to get my family of 4 from Sevilla to Granada. They have direct trips for pretty reasonable prices. Three hours direct. Are their buses good and reliable? Any one use them recently?

Thanks for any info you can share.

We just returned from four weeks in Malaga during which time we took the ALSA bus to Seville and Granada. I purchased those tickets online before the trip and printed off the paper tickets at home. We also did two local day trips buying the tickets at the bus station the days of departure. One trip was on ALSA and the other on a different bus company. All trips went well. The buses are clean and comfortable and we were impressed with the drivers. We would certainly recommend.

That's good because we're having to take ALSA from Madrid down to Granada--5 hours. Hard to believe the trains are not going more often and at better times.

Because Granada is working on adding high speed train lines, it is a bit convoluted to travel in and out of Granada, at the present time. In general, it appeared that a transfer to/from a bus was required in Antequera. I preferred train over bus in that the trains were roomier. However, in the case of having to switch from train to bus, if I had to do over, I would have opted to do the entire journey by bus.

Train or bus are both good and they take about the same time (3 or 3 1/4 hours). The train will require you to switch to a comfortable bus at Antequera but its a smooth transfer since they have done this for years. The bus ride into town from Antequera is about 1 hour and it drops you at the train station, not the bus station. If you take the bus directly from Sevilla you will end at the bus station. Spain has a very good bus service and some think it is better than the train. Have fun.
