I have tried several times this morning - both online and by phone - to book my visit. I get all the way to the end of the process only to see a message that says my credit card is not accepted. I have tried both American Express and Visa and know they are in good standing. I called AmEx to see what the problem might be and they say my record shows no sign of a declined charge so I'm not sure what the problem might be. Does anyone have any advice?
Are you on the official site for ticket purchase?
Did you call your bank first to advise of a foreign purchase ( for the Bank of America charge)?
Even if it says they take AmEx, it may not go through. (We had that experience with opera tickets in Italy). Try again with your Visa card, after calling your bank.
Did you use the ticketmaster.com website?

I just purchased ours two weeks ago and didn't have any problem. My one concern is that you have to go somewhere to pick up the hard copy of the tickets. So once you get your tickets, hopefully someone can give both of us advice on how/where/and what time we can pick up the actually tickets. Our entrance time is first thing in the morning!
One more thing---I didn't call our bank and used a visa card.
You should call your bank - they could be blocking a foreign transaction thinking that it is fraudulent. Also, you might need to enroll your Visa in "Verified by Visa" before trying to use it.
From the official website:
Collection of tickets:
The tickets bought in internet or by telephone can be picked up in the automatic machines of “La Caixa” using the credit card used for booking the tickets except the discount tariffs (with the exception of those under 12 years old).
Tickets can also be obtained either at the ticket vending machines located at the Alhambra Entrance Pavilion or at the Tienda de la Alhambra shop in Granada’s city centre on Calle Reyes Católicos nº 40, paying by credit card. Furthermore, visitors can collect their tickets at the on-site ticket offices, showing the reservation printout, the credit card used for the reservation or –if the reservation is under the name of the same person– an identity card or passport together with the reservation number.
There are La Caixa terminals all over Spain. You just find one (they look like ATMs), put in your credit card and follow the instructions and your tickets are printed out on the spot. You must use the same credit card that you used to purchase the tickets.
Did you try creating a PAYPAL account tied to your CC and paying that way?
Thanks to all for your recommendations. I was able to make my reservation and am looking forward to a great day visiting the site.
If these ticket machines can be found all over Spain, could I pick my ticket up in Barcelona or only Granada?
I think the Caixa terminals don't know "where they are." I happened to get mine after I got to Granada, but you should be able to use any point in Spain. Caixa sells tickets for many events and performances throughout Spain.
