All Hail Taxis!

Is it ever possible to schedule a taxi in advance? The bus is too slow and we'll have all our luggage. Car service is astronomically expensive. I know getting a taxi within a large city isn't a problem, but how about to a more rural location about a half hour from a large city? My hotel doesn't provide a shuttle. I'm nervous about booking a train until I know more. Any advice?

It might be easier to answer if you tell us where you're staying, where you want to go and what time of the day.

Otherwise, the answer is maybe.

if the car service is expensive do you think a taxi will be less?

I actually posted earlier with the location but didn't get any responses so I made my inquiry more general. I am traveling from Malaga Maria Zambro train station to a hotel in Monda. Apparently they have a shuttle to the airport, which I know I can get to easily from the train station. The issue is I'm going to a destination wedding and the hotel hasn't been working well with the bride so there's a lot of questions about getting the shuttle to the hotel and then back to the airport, by ourselves, on Sunday. I've called but the answer has been vague, at best. It makes me nervous to buy train tickets for the Sunday we leave without knowing for sure I can get to the train station on time. Thus, my issue and thus looking into alternatives. I have been looking at car services now as well and can see where I can book ahead. I may just have to go that route, I guess. Has anyone run into this type of situation and did you just go for your own transport and bag what the hotel says they have?

That's a tricky situation. What train are you looking at? When does it leave Malaga?

We plan on leaving the hotel at about 0800 Sunday morning to catch at 0935 train from Malaga to Granada.

Keep in mind that there are also buses to Granada. I believe they don't take much longer than the train, though I haven't taken either.

acraven Thank you for your recommendation. I'll have a bit of luggage so I'm not sure a bus is a good answer but I'll investigate.

If the car service you've found looks expensive, you can also ask them what it would cost to get to Fuengirola, from there you can continue by local train to Malaga. Or look up the bus options from Coín.

Also, don't disregard intercity buses in Spain, they are usually very nice. With underfloor storage for luggage.
