How does one get from the airport to downtown Alicante cheaply?

By bus.
A simple google of 'Alicante airport to downtown Alicante' or 'Alicante airport bus' will find it.

Taxi is 20 euro from the airport to downtown. 15-20 minute trip. I would go with the taxi. PS...loved Alicante!!
