We're staying several nights in Malaga in September and would like to take a day trip to Granada to see Alhambra. I'm not seeing great train options, so perhaps booking a tour that includes round trip travel and Alhambra tickets is our best option. Can anyone give some guidance on this, please?
We would also like to visit Ronda as a day trip and we prefer not to rent a car.
Thanks for any help!
Bus options between Malaga and Granada were frequent and fast the last time I visited. Check options with bus.
Alsa buses are great options to the train. If I recall, you take the bus from Malaga to Antequerra and then the bus or train to Granada from there. I would recommend that you visit the Alhambra on your own rather than the finite short time a tour provides.
Also remember to book to see the Nazrid Palace as soon as the tickets go on sale...3 months in advance.
A friend who did a long stay in Malaga visited Ronda as a day trip by bus. That is my intention in February.
We took an early morning Alsa bus from Malaga to Granada, a quick local bus to downtown Granada, visited the Alhambra and grounds on our own, and reversed the process in the evening back to Malaga.
It was easy, direct, and relatively inexpensive. The bus station in Malaga was near the train station and easy to find, and the return trip just as easy. It was probably 2 hr each way, so getting the early bus was a good idea.
