So I purchased Alhambra tickets in July, and then I got a new passport (I realized I had to). I booked the Alhambra tickets with the old passport number. I just realized that my new passport has a different number (WHY???). Does this matter? Will it help if I carry my old expired passport where the numbers match?
Yes, just take the old passport with you.
I'm sorry, but I'm in a total panic. Are you SURE this will work?
........I can't even imagine how devastated I'd be if I'm denied entry. I've wanted to visit the Alhambra for 20+ years.
I went last January. Though you do need it to buy the ticket online they did not check the passport.
OH, that's great news. I'll make sure I carry the old passport, my current passport, and another form of ID...I'm sure this isn't the first time this has come up for them. I just checked and not surprisingly I cannot just buy another ticket.
Appreciate your help!
Does anyone know if carrying the old passport is also good enough for train tickets? I know I've booked other things in the old passport number, I'm trying to remember what right now!
They never ever check passports or id on Spanish trains. They do on Swiss trains. They may check a credit card on French trains
Take a breath. Your passport is your only federal form of ID in Europe. It has your name and your photo. That is suffice. They are not scrutinizing it like you were trying to enter a country. They just want to know it was you who bought the ticket.....and even then it is a cursory check.
The only thing they ask me was for the credit card I used to buy the tickets , this was 4 years ago.
When we were there, all we needed was the credit card we had used to buy the Alhambra tickets.
We had been told that we would need to show our passports on the bus from Madrid to Granada, but the driver never looked at them or asked for them.
Don't want to take over the OP's post, but the credit card I used to pay for our tickets is changing (not my choice, they are sending a new one/new number), so sounds like I should take the old one? Thanks!
they did NOT ask to see the credit card when we where there last January.
Debbied, take your old card as well.
