Alhambra ticket question

How far in advance can you buy tickets to Alhambra? We are going on October 2018and the website shows that done are available. I am assuming that they just haven’t started selling tickets for October yet.

When do they make the tickets available?

Don’t know what hotel we are staying at yet but is there a general location that is preferred for ease to getting to Alhambra.

Appreciate any assistance

As I recall , the tickets go on sale about 90 days in advance , but check the web regularly for sale dates . Buy your tickets as soon as possible , as they are really unavailable close to the date of visit , When we visited in Autumn 2016 , posted information showed no availability for 4 weeks hence .

Hi, the previous poster is correct. Tickets usually sell out a month in advance.

You can buy your tickets 3 months in advance on the Alhambra website. https://compratickets.alhambra-patronato.es/

If you already have tickets, enter through the Puerta de la Justicia. If you need to wait in line to print/pick up tickets you will need to go to the main gate, and there may be a line so plan ahead for that.

You can walk up to the Alhambra via several routes. The easiest is probably via Cuesta de Gomerez. Of course you can also take a taxi, but the bus is a simple option. Hop on bus C3 and get off at Puerta de la Justicia. You can walk back down or take the bus again. You can find the bus map here: http://www.lovegranada.com/transport/granada-bus-map/

Any hotel in Granada will be convenient for getting to the Alhambra but it is at the top of the hill. You can stay nearby but then you will be away from most of the bars, restaurants and other sights of Granada. There are even two hotels within the Alhambra complex. But I would stay in the lower Albaicin, perhaps close to the river. Or in the Realejo or the area near the Cathedral.

Yes, 90 days - ish. It’s not exact. I’d check at a bit over 3 months ahead and then just look weekly. They do sell out fast, but not like on the day of release or anything.

There are a few hotels on the Alhambra hill, like the expensive Parador and at least one other (Americano?). But these are out of the way for the rest of town. Something near Plaza Nueva/Plaza Santa Ana (basically the same square, different ends) is good. That’s right near the minibus and also the walking route up to the Alhambra.

When I went to Spain in 2007, I missed getting Alhambra tickets for the day I wanted, so rearranged my itinerary to be there on the date I could get tickets -- Alhambra was worth it!
