Alhambra ticket - OK on my phone or do I a need a physical copy?

I am just getting things together for my trip to Spain as we leave next week. I have bought my Alhambra tickets but I am just trying to figure out if I need to print them out and have physical tickets on pieces of paper or whether having them on my phone is OK. They have QR codes so I am hoping that just having them on my phone is OK.

We have two tickets and will be carrying one phone with us on the day.

AussieNomad,

It looks like you’ll be fine with the digital QR codes on your phone.

According to this information from the Official Alhambra website:

IMPORTANT
It is mandatory to present the original ID card or passport to access the monumental complex.
Punctuality in access to the Nasrid Palaces.
Carry the ticket withQR code in physical or digital format (including children under 12).

Wishing you a wonderful trip!
Buen viaje!

P.S.
How times change… When my mom and I were there (2015), I booked our Alhambra tickets online but then had to retrieve them at a location (from an automated machine) in Granada.

I thought I had looked everywhere on the website! Thanks for finding this. I am trying to be as paper free as possible on my trip and learn to trust the digital economy. So now I just have three digital copies of everything, not three paper copies.

Just want to add that my husband and I had the printed tickets and no backup on our phones. After seeing the Alhambra and leaving the ticketed area, we tossed those tickets but then realized that the shortest way to walk back to our flat was to go through the ticketed area. We sought the guard who just scanned our passports, and we were back in.

Yes the staff will let you in if they scan your ticket displayed on your phone.

When I went to the Alhambra in March 2022, i had printed my ticket. I showed my printed ticket, and United States passport. What if your phone dies? You should carry a printed copy as a backup. I have not yet experimented with showing a ticket to anywhere, on my phone.

Amen Mike, always carry paper copies of your tickets and go ahead and keep them on your phone too. It is not hard to carry a paper copy, and if you loose your phone as I did on my last trip to Granada a paper copy will save the day! J
ps got the phone back the next day thank heavens!

We leave tomorrow. I have printed our plane tickets, Alhambra tickets, vaccination certificates and travel insurance certificate.

Everything else is on my iPad and phone and in the cloud.

There is no vaccination or testing requirement for entry - at least for US citizens, but perhaps it is different for Australia..

Should have said that we have a layover in Singapore on the way to Spain and Singapore still wants to know our vaccination status.

AussieNomad, if tickets to the Night visit at Nasrid Palaces is available consider going. There are a limited number of visitors and the lights allow the architectural detail to shine. We returned the next day for the full Alhambra tour. Also, Bus 35 from the city center can take you to the entrance for the Nasrid Palace/ Justice Gate.
We used tickets on our phone throughout Spain and Portugal.
