Alhambra, Granada Advice

Good evening from the UK,

I have purchased the Alhambra General Visit ticket, which involves the Nasrid Palace (entrance time is 15:00), Generalife, and Alcazaba. I will get to Granada at 11:00, and my train leaves Granada at 18:30.

I wanted to know how I should plan my day so that I am not rushing each site. Could someone please suggest in what order I should visit the three places I've mentioned, as I've found conflicting advice on the internet? As far as I am aware, the Nasrid Palace is strict with its timings and I should be there at least 30 minutes prior to 15:00.

I do plan on eating lunch, and although I'm happy to walk, I struggle walking very long distances, so if someone can suggest an itinerary where the exits and entrances are close by, I would really appreciate it!

If time permits, I would also love to visit the Basilica de San Juan de Dios as it will be on the way to the station.

Many thanks, and have a wonderful day.

Can you change your train ticket to stay the night? Honestly, this is going to be a tight squeeze just seeing the Alhambra and getting back and forth to the train station. And Granada is IMO, much nicer in the early morning and at night.

The Nasrid Palace entrance time is the only important one. It cannot be changed. The other places you can visit as you like. The Alcazaba doesn’t take long to see. The Generalife can take some time. You won’t have time to visit anything after the Nasrid Palace. If this is your first time to the Alhambra you will be rushing through it just to make your train. It isn’t uncommon to spend 3-4 hours in the Nasrid palace itself for first time visitors.

On my 4th visit to the Alhambra I still spent two hours visiting it. The link is a photo of my wife and I on our first visit in 1977 and our last visit in 2014.

Jaime, thank you for the pictures. It looks like you had a wonderful time!

It will be my first time so I will take your advice on board. I will try to change the train tickets to have a more relaxed trip.

Would you suggest to visit the Alcazaba or Generalife first?

The Generalife since it takes longer to see. It’s further from the Nasrid Palace. The Alcazaba is right by the entrance to theNasrid Palace.
