Alhambra

We are wanting to go to The Alhambra and Nasrid Palace. We will be a group of 4 adults, mid Oct. It looks like you need to book through a secondary party to tour both the grounds and the palace. Any favorite sites?

This needs to be booked well in advance, now would not be too early. Rick's guidebook & other resources available at this site give details on how to book it and what you want to see.

Hello from Wisconsin,
Some day, God willing, or Allah willing, there will be a website that explains the Alhambra for tourists. The Alhambra is a combination fortress, palaces within the fortress, and a large garden still with a wall around it.

There are really three places that require tickets. #1 The gardens. A ticket will get you into the garden, Generalife, once. No going in, going out for lunch and returning to the garden. The ticket is good for anytime during the day of your visit.

The Palaces. #2. A ticket issued with a specific time to enter the N. Palaces needs to be purchased. Good for one passage through the palaces, they are connected. Remember, even with this specific time for the palaces, you can enter the Alhambra at anytime.

Nearly all the other neat places #3. within the Alhambra walls that they can rope off. Once again a ticket is good for one entrance at anytime to each of the roped off areas. There is no third ticket for these roped off areas. Your Palaces ticket includes all of these except the gardens.

If I recall correctly, you can buy a ticket for the N. PALACES, and the roped off places that does not inclued the gardens. OR a ticket for the N. Palaces, the roped off places, AND, the garden, Generalife. OR a ticket for the gardens only.

And what of "getting into the Alhambra?" It is free.

Here is a thought. Buy EARLY. Months ahead of time even if you think it might be off season. Buy a go everywhere ticket, Palaces, roped included and the garden.

Let's say you select 2PM for the entrance time to the N. Palaces. Go to the Alhambra early in the day. Tour all the roped off places. Then leave the Alhambra and go to a nice sit down restaurant. There is one right across from the 'main' gate. Then get in line 15 minutes before your scheduled entrance to the palaces. Tour them. You can stay in the Palaces as long as you wish. Then take another sit down break before using your go everywhere ticket to see the gardens.

If you want to hang around till sundown fine. Remember you can enter the Alhambra anytime, with or without a ticket.

Make sure you know when and where to get off the bus on your trip up. Which buses go there, where to get on, and what numbering system for the buses is being used.
