Alhambra and passport info

Hi all,

I am planning the Granada portion of my trip. My passport expires May 26 2026. My trip is Oct 1 2025. I’ll be within 6mo of expiration but because it’s cutting it close I’m renewing to avoid any issues.

My issue is that the Alhambra requires passport info but I’ll be obtaining a new passport. I’ve read the passport used when purchasing tickets is required to enter but because I’ll be renewing my passport, I’ll have new information, will this cause an issue?

Can I contact the Alhambra with the updated info once I receive my new passport or can I show them my old passport that I’ll use at booking?

Because tickets for the Alhambra book fast I don’t want to wait any longer to purchase therefore looking for suggestions.

Lastly, is 2 nights in Granada enough? I’m planning to arrrive at noon, exploring the city, next day Alhambra and leaving the following day to Madrid. I’m traveling with my mother so moving a bit slower therefore, looking for suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know the definitive answer, but if it was me I'd get my tickets now, try to update the booking when I have my new passport and, if that fails, take both passports |(or a colour copy of the old one), with me.

I was thinking the same but just wanted some opinions in order to decide. Thank you for your input!

The FAQ section on the Alhambra website says you can change the name on the ticket. I presume with the name change comes a different passport number.

You can also reach out to them and get a definite answer:

The identification of the visitor may be changed up to the day before the visit in the following proportion per purchase locator (letter code and identification number in the ticket reservation and sales system, up to a maximum of 60 people):

From 5 to 9 tickets: 1 name.

From 10 to 19 tickets: 2 names.

From 20 to 30: 3 names.

From 31 to 40: 4 names.

From 41 to 50: 5 names.

From 51 to 60: 6 names.

In this case it is necessary to contact the Call Center on the phone +34 858889002
