Alhambra (and other) Guides

Can't say enough about the Granada guide recommended by Rick in the Sevilla/Granada/Andalucia "snapshot" guide. Margarita Ortiz de Landazuri does not book tours online, but through email, and is clear about purchasing tickets through the official Alhambra website first. Then the guide (she has a few who have trained with her) will be paid cash at the end of your tour. Our guide, Lucia was fantastic. She's been guiding there for 25 years (and her uncle had been for 40 years), and was so patient with 4 older Yanks, wonderully knowledgable and enlightening about every aspect of this treasure. Absolute highlight of our 3 weeks in Spain. ***** !

That said, is is sad to see how many fall for tour scams - here, Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, and elsewhere. Ridiculous prices and the big lie, "SKIP THE LINE TICKET!". There is no such thing. All tickets to major sites are timed entry. Many of these companies take people's money, then often are unable to get actual entry tickets for the time and day booked. Only Only purchase tickets from the official websites of the "attraction". Our entry to Sagrada Familia (with the official site's 1 hour human-guided tour ) were 23€ each (+65 senior price). We could easily have spent hundreds with the scammers - and the tour "aggregator" sites do not vet those who book through them ( V***r and Get Yr G**e). Buyer beware

We just did a tour of Alhambra with Margarita. She was wonderful! She is so knowledgeable and made the tour so enjoyable. We contacted her by email and when we were able to schedule with her, bought our tickets online at the official website. I highly recommend her!
