We have 2:30 tickets for the Alhambra on Oct 19. This is the time we can enter the Palacios Nazaries, but we also show the ticket to enter (untimed) Charles V Palace, Generalife Gardens, and Alcazaba, correct?
Rick's book says afternoon ticketed people can't enter "the Alhambra" until 2:00, but we are free to wander around the medina area earlier than that (essentially a public park). Therefore, we can't get into the 3 other ticketed places until 2:00 -- or really not until after the Nazaires, since we need to get in line around 2.
Elsewhere, I thought I've read that in the fall, they waive the restriction on waiting until 2pm to enter (for afternoon tickets), meaning we could go at 12:00 to visit one of the other ticketed entry sites before lining up for the Palacios Nazaries. Does anyone know if this is correct?
Yes, at 2:30 you enter the palace. Line up a bit before 2:30.
You will use the same ticket to enter the other ticketed sections - Alcazaba etc. The Charles V is not ticketed, so you can just walk in. Don't loose your ticket even after your palace time because you will need the ticket at these other points - and there are a couple checks in the Generalife as well as other points. There is no specific timeslot for these - whenever your ticket is valid you can go.
Under the old system, you would be in the "afternoon" slot and so couldn't enter the other sights before that - but could do so anytime after 2 PM. You could enter the grounds, the Charles V Palace, and see the views before 2, just not go through any ticket checks. The line area in front of the Nazrid Palace is in the open area, and there's some great views from near there.
I have heard the AM/PM arrangement changed. I was last there about a year ago and the old system was in place so can't advise on changes.
