Our cruise ship stops at Alicante April 19, 2023 and is in port for 8 hours. I'm looking into booking a small group excursion [not the ship excursion] to Alcoy. It is regrettable our only opportunity to be there is on the 19th as the big festival: Moors and Christians Festival, is 3-5 days after we're there. Other than the festival, is Alcoy-Alcoi an interesting place to visit? I suppose the real question is: is it worth an hour+ travel to and from Alicante or should we use those 2 hours to visit Alicante?
Thanks for any comments.
The city of Elche is closer to Alicante and seems to have some interesting sights; how it compares in that regard to Alicante itself, I don't know. I haven't visited any of the cities in that part of Spain. I know we have a few folks familiar with the area. I bet you'll have some more detailed responses soon.
