Alcazar

Should we buy tickets in advance for Alcazar? I was looking it up and there is a general ticket that appears to be free but then a "VISITA CON CUARTO REAL ALTO" that is 14 euros or nighttime visit for 12 euros. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Do you mean the Alcazar in Seville? Just about every Andalusian town has an alcazar.

I believe the Cuarto Real Alto refers to the private royal apartments, which are only open in the mornings and only visited on a tour. Since there are a limited number of tickets, if you're going to be there in high season, it may be a good idea to buy in advance, if you want to see them. They are a small part of this beautiful site.

Their website says there is free entrance on Mondays for the last hour they're open. They also have a reduced rate for seniors.

On Friday and Saturday evenings in the summer, there are special 75 minute theatrical performances. If you want to see this, you should probably buy in advance. But this would certainly not replace a daytime visit to the buildings and gardens.

So I figured it out. When you go through the process it eventually says 9.5 euros in the checkout process. It is free for residents, disabled and children under 16. Thanks for the help.

I was in Seville during April Fair and didn't feel the need to buy tickets in advance. There was a line but it wasn't outrageous.

We really enjoyed the Alcazar and Cathedral. Outside of April Fair or Semana Santa, my must sees for Sevilla include these two, a walk through the old quarter adjacent to the Alcazar, a stroll along the river in the area of the Golden Tower, and a Flamenco performance one evening. If you're so inclined and they're scheduled, a bullfight would be another evening activity.

We were there in May and there was a pretty significant line. When it's hot, the wait can be more uncomfortable. If you buy tickets ahead, make sure you note where the entrance for advance tickets is located.
