For anyone who has stayed at Hotel Europa, how did you make your way back to the airport when departing? We would prefer not to spend the night at the airport. We are considering a 12:40pm departing flight, and are assuming we need to be at the airport
by 9:00ish am. I know taxi is one means, but has anyone taken the bus, metro or possibly a shuttle?

We always take the metro. It does require a couple line changes, but to us, that isn’t an issue. The Sol metro stop is literally a couple minutes walk from the hotel. The metro takes between 40-45 minutes if I remember correctly. The cost is about €8 per person (€5 + €3 airport supplement).
Arriving to the airport 3 hours before departure is sufficient. Some airlines won’t allow checking of bags more than 3-3.5 hours prior to departure, so you don’t want to arrive too early.
