Airport train to El Prado?

I've been to Madrid once. We took the airport train to Puerta del Sol, which was close to our lodging.

This time we're arriving before noon and I'd liike to spend the night in Toledo.

Three questions:

Can you catch a train from the Airport directly to (or with a subway connection) down to the Prado? As I recall, that's where the train to Toledo leaves from.

Do I need to prebook the train? I don't want to lose hours waiting for a booked train, but I also don't want to miss a booked train because of a flight delay. What is the difference in cost to buy a ticket when I arrive at the station?

I'm searching for links for the airport train as well as train options to Toledo. So far, without success.

Thanks,

Brad

To be precise, the train to Toledo departs from Atocha station. There is no Prado station.

There are lots of transportation options between the airport and Atocha Station. They include buses, trains, the subway and a taxi. I've used the first two. I think taking the subway would require a transfer (actually, I believe it's 2 transfers), something I try to avoid when encumbered by luggage.

Thanks,

Yes, Atocha station - which is a short walk from the Prado. I didn't mean to imply it was called Prado station, just that was the part of town I wanted to get to.

The bus sounds right. Encumbered isn't an issue. I don't pack more than 12 lbs. total, all in a bag that fits under my seat.
