Airport arrivals in Spain

We'll be in Spain traveling between cities, Barcelona to Grenada, Sevilla to Porto...

What is the recommended arrival time at these airports ahead of a flight; we pack light anc would be able to carry our bags onto the flight if that is allowed (1 suitcase that fits overhead, 1 smaller bag that would fit under the seat).

Here is the US, to travel to another city, I generally like to be there about 2 hours ahead from big cities, maybe 1hr 15 in smaller cities.

Thank you!

2-2.5 hours should be sufficient since you’re staying within the Schengen zone and won’t need to go through immigration/passport control. For international flights where you’d need to clear immigration, then 3 hours is recommended.

This October we are flying TAP Air Portugal from Seville to Lisbon. We too generally carry-on only for US and US partner airlines.

To the extent you are saving time by carrying-on your luggage and personal item, consider that most of the European airlines have weight restrictions which vary. TAP is known for strictly enforcing carry-on baggage rules. While TAP at 10 kg is more generous than, for example, ITA Airways at 8 kg which we used in 2022, nonetheless overweight bags may result in extra fees.

On our last trip our bag was 21.9 lbs (I used a luggage hand scale) -- too close for my comfort, so we checked our bag with ITA and we will do so again on TAP. So far our only exception has been with British Airways which allows a back-breaking 23 kg in the overhead!

Enjoy your trip!

That is very dependent on what airline you are using, ticket class and size & weight of your bags
