In early August, I and 3 women friends will end a cruise in Barcelona. The current plan is to spend 3 nights in Barcelona to sightsee as a group, then 2 must depart for home. The option then is for 2 of us either to go to another city in Spain for a few days or to remain in Barcelona and do day trips for 3 or 4 days. Any suggestions on the one other place I should go? Or would you recomend specific day trips that make it worth staying in Barcelona for a week?
I have not been to Spain before but have traveled to Europe seveeral times. My friend is willing to do whatever I prefer. She has been to Spaon 2 or 3 timrd before, including Barrcelona, Seville, Malaga and others.

You could stay in Barcelona and do trips to Monseratt and Girona.

There’s plenty to do in Barcelona, but alternatively you could hop a quick flight to Madrid and fly home from there. The central core of Madrid is a great spot for a couple of days.

I would not fly from Barcelona to Madrid; a train will be faster.
