Advanced train tickets to Toledo???

I will be in Spain in November and doing a day trip from Madrid to Toledo. If I was going during the height of tourist season, I know that I would need advanced train tickets as it states in the RS guide books and has been stated regularly on this forum. But is it advisable to purchase advanced tickets for mid November? Or is it ok to purchase at the train stations?

Thanks,
Nick

You can buy that on the day. It is set price at 12.90 euros. Train leaves every hour

Edit: Almost like taking the Metra to Oak Park from Chicago

It's a commuter line. It often fills in the summer, I don't know about the winter. When you know for sure when you are going, buy your tickets. If you can stay overnight, all the better.

There is bus service as well as train service between Madrid and Toledo. If you are not comfortable buying the return train ticket at the same time you buy the outbound ticket, I suggest researching the bus schedule ahead of time so you have a back-up plan in case the train you want to take is sold out. You definitely don't want to get marooned in Toledo if you're paying for a hotel in Madrid.

We just took the train from Madrid to Toledo on Saturday after flying in from the US. I did not want to buy my tickets ahead because I was worried about the possibility of a flight delay. We purchased our tickets upon arrival at the airport in Madrid with no problem whatsoever.

However, I did purchase my return ticket from Toledo to Madrid, because I was worried about commuter traffic on a Monday morning. I needn't have worried. The train was nowhere near full.
