Advance Alhambra General Tix thru TicketMaster from the US and maybe anyplace except Spain

Getting advanced general tickets for the Alhambra, which appears to be absolutely necessary, can be a real pain when trying to purchase tickets from the US. For some reason, depending on the browser one uses they may or may not be able to get tickets. When using Google Chrome on my laptop, every time I entered my credit card info I would get a message that the card info could not be verified. I was instructed to try entering the data again or to contact my card coimpany. After numerous unsuccessful attempts I contacted my card company and was assured there was no problem at the credit card company end. I tried once more with my laptop and Google Chrome to get the tickets through Ticketmaster after checking with my credit card company and was unsuccessful. Before totally giving up and booking a tour at much greater expense, I tried booking on my IPad with Safari. Much to my amazement I was able to get tickets on my desired date with entrance to the Palacios Nazaries at my desired time the first time I tried with the IPad and Safari.

If one is having trouble booking tickets with a browser, they may want to try using an IPad and Safari before giving up and going the more expensive tour route.

I was having the same problem last week. I then used IE and it worked fine.

I had the same problem, but used a different credit card and was able to get tickets no problem. I was using Chrome both times. I was actually surprised the other card worked. It was my credit union bank card and I had not told them in advance that I was going to make a purchase from Spain. But it worked. Maybe that's not a good thing, ha! But I am happy to have tickets ready to go for the Alhambra! 10 weeks to go! :)

Using an Amex card did the trick for me after numerous attempts on different devices/browsers and trying a few different Visa cards.

I used Firefox when I booked our Alhambra tickets.

Another option is to book your tickets by calling the Alhambra directly at 34 - 902 888 001. The operators speak English.

We plan on getting the granadacard which includes the Alhambra. But the question is this: do we have to book the actual
day of our visit when we get the card? Or do we book the date separately with the Alhambra administration? Also, which of the
Alhambra complex is at the highest altitude? Next highest? Lowest? We are senior citizens and have trouble ascending heights.
Is the Nasrid palace high up or low down?

I was having the exact same issue with every combination of browser, computer, and card that I was using. I finally tried using an older card that I never use anymore and, amazingly, it worked.

Glad to hear you got through also! Waiting in line to (hopefully) get tickets on the day of the visit sounds like quite a gamble, so getting them early is definitely the route to go. Enjoy!

At least when I bought it in 2006, you gave your first three choices of Nasrid Palace admission time when you booked the card, and you found out which one you actually got when you got the card.

"Also, which of the Alhambra complex is at the highest altitude? Next highest? Lowest? We are senior citizens and have trouble ascending heights. Is the Nasrid palace high up or low down?"

You take a bus to the main gate at the top, near the Generalife Gardens (which are highest). You walk down to the Nasrid Palace, and a bit further downhill is the Alcazaba.

However, the only thing that's timed is the Nasrid Palace. To get from there to the Generalife Gardens, you can take as much time as you need (if your entry time to the Nasrid Palace means you have to see that before the Gardens).

I used AmEx and I was able to get my tickets. All other cards would not work.

Thrilled to be visiting for the third time - this October.

Cheers

SUCCESS!!!!
To all those that have problems with the website purchasing the tickets to Alhambra, THIS worked for me.

I spent over an hour trying 3 different credit cards and a debit card plus contacted my bank .. no luck.
Next day and clear headed I started it again. success!
The solution was hiding on the website in plain sight.

The key was accessing the correct version of the Alhambra ticket website.. (I started from Ticketmaster International
Don't use the "Translate page"!!!!!
On the opening Alhambra ticket page ...Look at the upper right hand corner

"see option for Spanish & English" choose English
Once I selected English, the site worked flawlessly

Good luck to all

Made several attempts on Safari with my laptop using two different cards. Didn't work. I might try the tip posted about translating the page, but I thought I did that, and it didn't work. Will attempt again, but this needs to be fixed. I've purchased a number of admit tickets through various international sites and only The Alhambra site has been a problem.
