Access to Rock of Gibraltar

With the cable car to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar down until 2027, the only transport option to get to the top now (as well as to see the Nature Reserve sights) is to pay for a taxi tour which stops for 15 or so minutes at each sight then takes you back down. You can opt to stay at the last stop and wander around on your own from there and then of course walk down to the bottom on your own.

Does anyone know if I can get a regular taxi to take me to the top and drop me off…more or less do what the cable car did? I’m not a tour person personally, would rather have the freedom to stay as long or as short as I want at each sight and if I leave the group tour at end of this taxi tour, that’s even more walking I have to do if I want to go back to spend longer at an earlier sight.

I know I can buy a Nature Reserve ticket without the taxi but I want to know if I can get a taxi outside of the Gibraltar ticketing machine to take me to the top and drop me off? Thank you.

You can have a taxi take you to the top and walk down, but one advantage of a taxi our is that you get dropped off at the entrance to the caves, and picked up at the exit.
It's worth mentioning that the drivers are proud Gibraltarians, with a lot of local knowledge.
