A week or more in Portugal

We will fly into Lisbon for 4 nights and visit Porto for 3 nights in 2nd half of April, 2017.

Kindly advise if this is good and sufficient, and help suggest interesting places and routes... We will travel by train and bus and on a medium-low budget.

We love sceneries, landscapes, flowers, photography ... not so much beach and museums.

Thanks a lot. Aileen

ps / Then we will travel 4 nights each to Madrid, Seville and Barcelona. (Hope to take a ferry from Seville to Barcelona - any suggestions?)

Portugal is easily good for a solid two weeks. That said, you could do very well with three nights in Porto, five in Lisbon, and two in Sintra. (My wife and I visited Portugal in 2008 and rented a car for the part of our trip between 3 nights in Porto at the start, and 5 nights in Lisbon at the end). Based upon your interests, you should stay in Sintra at least for a couple of nights. Do not settle for a day trip. Evora, Tomar, Obidos, Coimbra are great stops. Marvao is spectacular but that would require a car. This is a very good country in which to not worry about checking things off the list of obligatory things to see, to just slow down and be there. I have traveled with my wife all over Europe over 16 trips, and our 2008 Portugal trip is in the top three of those trips.

Porto is great, make sure you do a river cruise.

If staying in Porto, I highly recommend the InPatio Guesthouse. It is a fantastic B and B.
