A day in Cádiz Spain

Cádiz city has no wow sites. Other than the cathedral it’s nice to just walk around.

I love Cádiz & am going back for the third time next Spring.

I agree there’s no “must do” sites which makes the city so nice without huge crowds - still plenty of people. Although I might say Heladería Verde Pistacchio is my “must do” because it is a favorite, plus the pistachio colored VW within the little shop is cute! They recognize me by the time I’m leaving each year. ; )

Cádiz has a wonderful atmosphere. It feels a little like Palermo on some streets, has a nice art museum that’s not crowded, good cathedral, interesting ancient sites, nice promenades - especially the b&w tiled one, etc. Last time I took a city walking tour, and I do recommend it because of the interesting ancient history & details of the city you wouldn’t catch otherwise. Our first time there, we stayed several days during the first part of their 2-week Carnaval - excellent!

I like to stay at Áurea Casa Palacio Sagasta - beautiful hotel, good location & great breakfast.

I plan to visit Cadiz as a day trip based on jean’s prior posts and trip reports. Jean - what’s the city walking tour company that you went with? Walking and food tours are our favorites way to get to know a place and a nice alternative to hitting “ must see sights”

We also love Cádiz, and are returning again soon.

Other than Jean's suggestions, we enjoy the Parque Genovés gardens located alongside the Atlantic Ocean. The stunning historical square, Plaza de Mina, and The Gran Teatro Falla. And, a big yes to Heladeria Verde Pistacchio Cadiz!

Agree with Jean no “must dos” which is why we love Cádiz.

I have a tapas place to recommend, La Cruzada Rosado. Exceptional food and very reasonable prices.
