8 days in late May/early June

My husband, 11yo son, and I will be in Spain at this time. We have been before but always in late winter. We will be flying in and out of Madrid. Which is a another good city to spend time in this time of year? Thanks!

I'd probably go somewhere on the coast, to contrast with Madrid. So on the Mediterranean you could either spend a few days in Barcelona or Valencia. Or in the Basque Country Bilbao or San Sebastian could be a good option if you're looking for more temperate weather. It's really up to what you guys are in to lol!

Barcelona and buy train tickets to and from in advance. Good day trip options are Montserrat and Dali’s Theatre-Museum in Figueres.

We took a bus down to Granada and visited the Alahambra. Beautiful and inexpensive city to visit. I would like to go back and go up into the caves where the gypsies do their flamingo dance shows.

Then we flew cheap on Vueling Airlines one hour over to Barcelona.

My wife liked it so well, she returned a few months later--just before the pandemic.

Carlos made some good suggestions. The temperatures north of Madrid are nice that time of year. They are not too hot, yet if you go to the mountains you can still get some cool temperatures. My wife and I never stay 8 days in one place, but if we did, it would need to be a city that we could take day trips from. Where you stay should be dependent on what you want to do or see; history, beaches, outdoor activities, larger/smaller city, etc.

Late May is a great time of year for Andalucia. Are you planning on spending some time in Madrid or just as arrival/departure?
