Beginning February 22 we have 6 nights in southern Spain. We have already seen Sevilla, Granada and Cordoba. My thought is to fly from Casablanca (Morocco trip conclusion) to Malaga. We would love to rent a car at some point to drive through some hill towns in addition to touring a bit in Malaga itself of course. We’d even like to get to Cadiz. That may be stretching a bit. Those of you who have visited the area please advise an efficient road trip considering that we fly home from Malaga on February 28 leaving midday. Should we sightsee in Malaga first sans a car, then rent and drive, returning car to airport the day of the flight or do the car rental first, leaving Malaga and heading to hill towns. or Cadiz? We don’t mind changing hotels as we travel light and never unpack. We love going to different places rather than sitting around relaxing.
Since you’re flying out of Málaga I’d place the Málaga stay at the end. How you divide your remaining time is up to you. Cádiz is only a 2.5 hours +/- drive from Malaga, so very doeable.
Maybe make a loop incorporating some of the following: Málaga - Cádiz - Jerez de la Frontera - Arcos de la Frontera - Grazalema - Zahara de la Sierra - Ronda - Antequera- Málaga.
On an upcoming trip we have reservations at the Parador de Málaga Gibralfaro at the end of the trip when we have more time, but Parador de Málaga Golf at the beginning right after a long flight. The Málaga Golf Parador is only a few kilometers from the airport.
From Cádiz it is feasible to visit Arcos, Grazalema, Zahara, then spend a night in Ronda on the same day.
