My girlfriend and I are spending 6 nights in Madrid at the end of October. Need recommendations for a two bedroom unit either in a hotel or villa. Also would love to hear about what to see and if there is a guide that could help us tour the city and side trips.
Things to see: Prado Gallery (it was good to be da' king!). A day trip to Toledo which is very close and has a better Cathedral and great El Greco's in their original homes.. Check the RS tour books for recommended guides and if they are not available ask for their recommendations (they hope others will do the same for them). And everything else!
For me, the must-visit places are the Prado, Reina Sofía, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums. The Royal Collection is also worthy, if not for anything else, but the Caravaggio. The Sorolla Museum is currently closed but may open by the time you go. Otherwise, Madrid is a vast modern city. I stayed in an Airbnb both times I have been there. Great day trips are Toledo for the Romanesque-Mudejar churches, the old city, and the El Greco paintings. Segovia for more Romanesque-Mudejar architecture and the Roman viaduct.
