6 days in Basque Country July 2025-need help with wine tours and to Pamplona or not?

Hi! We’ll be in Basque Country next July 4-10 and need assistance with a possible guide to tour wineries, as well as the city of San Sebastián.
We’re also aware the running of the bulls is happening and very close. Worth the day trip and possible tickets?

Itinerary: Fly into Biarritz 7/3.
7/4-7-10 San Sebastian
7/10-11 Bilbao

Thank you!

If I´m not wrong, the Sanfermines running of the bulls will start on July 6 and end on July 14. The running of the bulls takes place every day at 0800am and you do not need tickets to watch this, you´ll need them for the bullfight that takes place at 0600pm. Just take into account that it will be very crowded and there is a great festive atmosphere all over Iruña-Pamplona.

The Basque Country has 5 regions producing wine: three of them produce "txakoli" wine (Getaria, Bizkaia and Araba D.O.), then we have Rioja Alavesa D.O.Ca. wine region, and then it´s the Iroleguy wine region in the French Basque Country. Rioja is closer from Bilbao, but can also be visited from Donostia-San Sebastian. 6 days in D-SS may seem too much time, unless you plan side trips to Getaria, Hondarribia, Pasai Donibane,..., and take also into account that beach weather is not always a possibility, as this is a rainy area.

Thank you! We were thinking of a day trip to Pamplona. Also looking for guide suggestions for those day trips to explore the wine regions.

If you're looking for a great guide to wine country, I would recommend Mikel at Tours by Basques. He's excellent!

Mikel gave me and my parents an excellent walking tour of Bilbao that included history and pintxos, if you're interested in something like that.
