6 days in Andulucia with kids

We are traveling with two kids and plan to spend 6 days in andulucia region. We intend to visit Seville, al hambara and any of the white villages. As of now, we intend to use public transport. Please advise where to base ourselves and suggested itinerary

What time of year will you be taking this trip? Spring or fall would be more pleasant than summer, weather-wise, but lodging costs escalate significantly during Holy Week.

How do these six days fit in with your entire trip? Are you planning to fly into Seville from the US (check fares from your origin--this could be costly), or are you traveling elsewhere in Spain prior to heading to Andalucia? It's interesting to see one or a few of the villages, but they are not near the major cities and require considerable transportation time. With only six days, you barely have time to see the key sights of Seville (quite a large city) and Granada. After Seville and Granada, my third priority in Andalucia would be Cordoba rather than the white villages. Cordoba isn't a one- or two-hour stop, but it's on the AVE line running from Madrid down to Seville/Granada, so it can be visited with less wasted (bus/train) time than Arcos, Grazalema, etc.

There isn't one single base that will work for you even without white villages in the mix. The fastest morning train from Seville to Granada takes 2 hr. 30 min. one-way. Cordoba, on the other hand, can be a day-trip from Seville, though many of us think it has enough sights to justify at least a two-night stay.

You can visit Arcos by bus from Seville, but you don't have much time. It seems a shame to use what will turn out to be the better part of a day to see just one village. If you would consider renting a car just to drive from Seville to Granada (o vice versa), you could detour to one or two of the white villages. Another option would be a one-day bus tour; prior to the pandemic such tours were available from Seville. Such a tour for four people would be a lot more expensive than a one-day car rental, I believe.

Can you extend your trip? Six days is quite short for Andalucia. For me Seville needs at least 4 nights (3 full days) and Granada needs at least 2 nights (the Alhambra can take the better part of a full day by itself). If you should decide to drive from Seville to Granada by way of one or two of the white villages, thereby arriving quite late in Granada, 2 nights would end up being not much more than one day in Granada. Cordoba has more than enough sights to fill a full day (or add another night to Seville).

Thanks acraven for detailed information. We are planning to visit Madrid and Barcelona (4 days and 5 days) along with 6 days in Andulucia. We will be traveling in December. We are traveling from Dubai. We are now considering to apply for international driving license after reading your posts and other suggestions. We are yet to finalise locations within Andulucia region. We have 15 days in total… with tentative itinerary as mentioned above.

Thanks to the questions raised by Acraven (whom is an excellent contributor) and OP responses please consider:

December means short days of daylight and the potential of weather impacting effective hours to visit destinations. So simplify the journey and stay in Seville and Granada while using public transport. We have driven these destinations while having ample time and sunshine to enjoy the journey, but............renting a car consumes time, increases need for safety and security awareness, means finding parking spaces, reduces driver enjoyment and opens the back seat question "Are we there yet?". Use public transport and everyone gains when you are going from point to point.
