5 nights in Southern Spain

Hello,
In November we are flying in and out of Madrid. We plan to take the train to Cordoba and stay 2 nights. I would like to explore the white villages and Jerez La Frontera for the remaining 3 nights/4 days before returning to Madrid for a few nights.

Should we base ourselves in Ronda and take day trips from there? We would love to stay in rural towns vs. a place like Sevilla. Are the roads mountainous or easy to drive if we rent a car? Thx

There are some small mountains (if one can even call them that) in parts of the white villages area. Driving is easy along mostly two lane roads with speeds being about 70kph/42mph.

Either Ronda or Jerez would work as a base. They’re only about 1.5 hours drive apart.

The last time I was in that area we flew into Jerez and rented a vehicle there. Not sure if that’s even an option for you.

Seville is one of my favorite cities in Spain. If you haven't been there, you should consider it.

Thank you, both! We have been to Sevilla so wanted to go to another place that would allow us to visit other villages and wineries easily. However, if staying in Ronda there seems to be only one train back to Madrid that is 4 hrs (vs 5-6) and it is late at night arriving in Madrid at 9:30pm. Not sure if I am missing another way to get back?
