5 nights in Andalucía

Our daughter is studying abroad this year in Barcelona and we are going to see her over Spring Break, which is also semana santa. She would really like to visit the Andalucía region when we are there. We also have friends that live in Cadiz that we would love to visit for a night. We have roughly 6 days and 5 nights open to explore this region. We are trying to figure out the best itinerary and best transportation options. My husband loves to drive in foreign countries and take in the sights and countryside as we travel from city to city, but I’m concerned about parking in cities like Sevilla. Any suggestions are appreciated!

A car is not worth the effort for this trip.

1. Fly from Barcelona to Seville.
Train to Cordoba (1)
2. Train to Jerez (1)
3. Train to Cadiz (1)
4. Train to Seville (2)
5. Seville
6. Fly from Seville to Barcelona

I wouldn't stay in two separate cities less than 40 minutes apart by train except for a very special reason, so I'd modify David's proposal by spending both nights in Cadiz, assuming there's a place to store luggage in Jerez so you can visit it in transit.

[Edited to add: Actually, Cordoba and Seville are also very close, so those two hotel stays could be collapsed.]

If not especially interested in sherry or the horse show, I'd skip Jerez and go straight back to Seville, allocating the Jerez night either to Cadiz or Seville, depending on visiting arrangements with your friends.
