We have a day stop at Palma on an upcoming cruise and are interested in just hanging around and seeing the city rather than one of the bus tours outside the city. Would anyone have some "must-see" places to visit in the city, and any restaurant recommendations? For restaurants, scenic and atmospheric -- maybe waterside or historic, would be our preference. Thanks for any ideas!
If you can, just get the cruise shuttle into town. Aim for the cathedral which you can't miss high on the hill. The cathedral is beautiful inside and out. Once you have seen it then you can just wander the streets of the old town. Right next to the cathedral is the Almudaina palace. The old Arab bath house is worth finding as it has a beautiful cool garden in which to rest your weary feet. There's a small entrance fee, but worth the cool peaceful interior. We just followed the sign posts to find it. There are plenty of small museums, cafes to eat and drink and it is really hard to get lost. So my advice is to just wander and enjoy.
